Pembrey Circuit – Round 1 – April 21st 22nd 2018
A long awaited season opener set off with promising weather at Pembrey, South Wales on Saturday. A mixed grid welcomed some new drivers, along with some old faces, and two entries from Mission Motorsport.
Hot to watch were the Class C drivers; Paul Roddison and Jeremy Shipley, qualifying up front. -The only two in Class so far this season, since MaX5 Founder and driver; Jon Halliwell, takes time out to recover from a none MSA related accident. – With the newer Mk4’s setting the fastest lap times, their lines and consistency were educational to watch, lapping the smaller engine Class B cars, Paul Roddison pulling a 15.932 second gap by the end of race 2.
Returning again this year were the Class A battling trio; Andrew Pretorious, Lee Hollin and Matthew Tidmarsh in the Blue, Green and Orange MK3’s, not failing to disappoint and each taking home a Trophy and podium place throughout both races.
New to Class A driving this year, young Josh Malin impressed with the best MK3 lap times and a P1 finish in both races on Sunday, pictured between Matthew Tidmarsh (P2) and Lee Hollin in Race 2.
Also returning this year after driving the MK3 last season, Adrian Johnson made an appearance in Class B, alongside new entrant Jordan Johnson his son, both taking Podium places, P1 and P3 in the Second race. Nick Bailey joining in with a well deserved P2.
Jordan, #192, DNF race 1 with a snapped drive shaft off the grid start. Mission Motorsport to the rescue with spares, having already replaced a gearbox on their own MK3 after qualifying with 2nd and 4th gear missing.
An eventful and high spirited weekend, with mostly forgiving weather and a great start for all. An especially warm welcome to New MaX5 Drivers; Jordan Johnson, Oliver Sighe, and Paul Vice and Andy Jones supported by Mission Motorsport. Look forward to seeing you at Snetterton in 2 weeks time for Round 2.
